Nurses, ODP & Practitioners Workshop (optional)- 11th June 2019
On behalf of the British & Irish Association of Robotics Gynaecology Surgeons, I would like to welcome you to Newcastle upon Tyne. We anticipate an exciting meeting in this stunning North East city.
BIARGS 2019 will offer you the opportunity to hear the latest research, debate the hottest topics in gynaecological robotic surgery and learn the techniques and ways in which colleagues from across the world improve the health and wellbeing of women.
The future of robotic surgery is dynamic and promising; Robot-assisted surgery has been a large catalyst in the increased use of minimally invasive surgery in managing gynaecological cancers. One likely reason is that the learning curve for robot-assisted surgery is shorter than that for traditional laparoscopy. Additionally, robot-assisted surgery offers technical advantages over traditional laparoscopy, such as high-definition three-dimensional field of vision, instruments with wrist-like range of motion, tremor filtration, and better ergonomics.
Technology and surgical techniques will inevitably continue to improve hand in hand, thereby allowing procedures to be performed by methods that are even less invasive than today's standards.
Throughout the two days of the conference and the pre-congress masterclasses, we will be learning together the role of robotics surgery in gynaecological cancer as well as benign gynaecology; added sub-theme is around education and training. I hope this will be of wide interest to consultants, first assistants, trainees, nurses, theatre teams and undergraduates alike.
We have had excellent support from industry partners. I encourage you to take time to drop by all the stands at the meeting, to learn about new developments in equipment and technology.
As well as a chance to share knowledge, the meeting is also the perfect time to socialise with colleagues. The drinks reception and dinner will be held at the Northern Rock Foundation Hall, the SAGE Gateshead, an international music centre and renowned conference and event venue located at the south bank of the River Tyne.
We will look forward to meeting you for what is sure to be an excellent and enjoyable educational meeting.
